Principal Consultant · Shewmaker Consulting

Design consulting for McKinsey & Company. Strategy, research and product work for Wells Fargo, Lifelines, WeatherBug and West Marine, and a new service with the founders of Melissa & Doug. My strategy work for Wells Fargo became LifeSync once the bank hired me.

2015–2020

Executive Creative Director, UX · Organic

Led experience design across San Francisco and Detroit, with 20 direct reports, and the digital side of Wells Fargo's national campaigns. Helped create Synthetic, the agency's division for AI-driven work, and taught clients how to put AI to work for their customers.

2012–2015

Chief Experience Officer · SMITH

Sat on the executive team and built the experience design practice from nothing to about 30 people across four offices.

2003–2012

Executive Creative Director, UX · R/GA

Led Verizon, the agency's largest client at the time, and digital for the Microsoft Surface launch. Acting head of the 80-person global interaction design department. On loan to Walmart eCommerce, 2009–2010. It's where I picked up a bias I still have: build something people can use instead of shrinking a TV spot into a banner.
